Special Evacuation Instructions

In the event of an earthquake or other notification of an imminent disaster or emergency, please tune your radio to 830 AM. This radio station is operated by the Carmel Valley Fire Protection District and we will broadcast instructions that may include evacuation or other safety or shelter information. This station can only be heard within the Carmel Valley Village area.

The fire department has an emergency broadcast system (EBS) siren located in the Carmel Valley Village. If the siren is sounded three times in succession, please tune to the emergency broadcast at 830 AM for information on the emergency. This siren can be heard from Sleepy Hollow in the East to the Garzas/Boronda area in the West. A single blast of the siren only indicates a normal fire department response to a 911 emergency and is not cause for concern.

The EBS siren signal is a result of the San Clemente Dam Emergency Action Plan, which was required by the state in 2003 in response to dam failure concerns.
